The PSS Staff Outreach & Development Committee, also known as “SOD,” collaborates with HR staff in assessing staff development needs and proposing, promoting, implementing, and evaluating staff development programs. SOD serves as a conduit of information regarding staff development needs and programs among the staff senates and collective bargaining units. They are also responsible for facilitating activities and events that promote learning, growth, community, and service to the University amongst staff at UMBC. This group is the primary planning committee for the annual Staff Cookout held each summer.
